 Abdominoplasty "Tummy Tuck"

Indications:

*Sagging, abdominal skin and muscles resulting from weight loss, lack of exercise, pregnancies or aging.

Procedure description:

*The procedure is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis.

*A low transverse incision is made beneath the underwear line extending from hipbone to hipbone. The abdominal muscles are tightened and the excess skin and fat is removed. The umbilicus is repositioned on the new abdominal contour.

*The patient may go hone after the procedure but must be accompanied by an adult. Patient must return to the office the following morning so the doctor can check progress of the patient. If patient lives out of town, our overnight facility is available at no charge. Patient must be accompanied by an adult.

Recuperation and Healing:

*The patient goes home with an abdominal binder for compression.

*Initial discomfort, especially from the muscle surgery, can be present for one to two weeks, and is controllable with medication.

*Sutures are removed in about one week at which time light activities may be resumed; resumption of normal exercises after one month.

*The scars mature and fade over six to eighteen months and are hidden beneath the underwear line.

Intended Result:

*A flatter, tighter and more shapely abdomen.
