 Chin Enlargement

 

Indications: 

* A receding chin or one which is too small in comparison with the other facial features, but not attributed to extensive dental problems.


Procedure Description:

* The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.

*An incision is made  under the chin. A small pocket is created in the tissue and an implant is inserted.

 


Recuperative and Healing:

* The patient goes home with a pressure dressing over the chin.

*Initial discomfort is easily controlled with mild medication.

*Bruising usually subsides within a week or two.

*Swelling and tenderness and possibly numbness may persist for a month or two.

 


Intended Result:

* An improved profile.

*A more attractive jaw line which creates a better balance between the chin and the other facial features.

Insurance Guidelines:

*The procedure is considered cosmetic and therefore is not covered by insurance. The patient is responsible for payment.
